Bangladesh are looking to keep the winning momentum going in the next games after clinching a memorable victory in the first match of the T20I series against India.

The Tigers are now confident of sealing the three-match series on the back of their commanding win against their Asian rival.

“Now our target is to keep it going,” Mushfiqur Rahim told reporters ahead of their second T20 match scheduled for November 7 in Rajkot.

“First match is important in any series. We always want to start the series with a winning note. We tried our best to start off the series well so that we can gain the momentum early. That was happened what we wanted,” he said.

Mushfiqur Rahim, who engineered their maiden T20 match victory over India, also said: “We came here to compete in each and every game. But as long as you are playing consistent cricket and improving day by day, that’s our main goal.”

The Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman further said they still need to improve in some areas if they want to clinch the series.

“But, personally I think we can improve in couple of areas. In the last two overs, we gave way some easy boundaries. We need to improve there in last portion of bowling. If we can improve in those areas and play better from what we did today, there is nothing which is impossible. We will try our level best to compete against India.”

Mushfiqur also stressed the requirements of keeping the consistency in batting too.

“It is very important. In T20, a top four needs to be there to finish the innings, whether you are setting a target or chasing. That was our plan. And we did that. And it is important to carry on the good form in the next games.”

Meanwhile, Bangladesh reached Rajkot with the mission to seal the T20 series as they are leading by 1-0 margin.

The historic victory came at a time when the country’s cricket was at lowest ebb.

A few days ahead of their India tour, the Bangladesh cricket team went on an unprecedented strike to press home their 11-point demand.

Bangladesh lost their ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan as he was banned by the ICC for his failure to report ‘corrupt’ approaches.

When the visitors were gearing up for the tour in India, which is always considered as toughest for any country in the world these off-the-field scuffle grabbed them coupled by the absence of some key members like Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Saifuddin.
